Meeting Chips — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-05-29

Meeting Chips is an offline-first Android app. Everything you enter is stored on your device only. There is no Meeting Chips server, no analytics, no advertising, and no third party with a copy of your records.

Who runs the app

Fizzcube Ltd, support@fizzcube.co.uk. We are the data controller for the personal data the app processes, but by design we hold no copy of your data ourselves.

What the app stores

On your device only:

These records live in the app’s private SQLite database and are never transmitted unless you turn on one of the features below.

Features that send data

Both features are off by default. They require you to turn them on.

Encrypted Drive backup. You set a passphrase. The app derives a key from it (PBKDF2-SHA256, 200,000 iterations), encrypts your database with AES-256-GCM, and uploads the ciphertext to the App Data folder of your own Google Drive account. That folder is sandboxed per-app: invisible to other apps, hidden from your normal Drive view, and unreadable by us. We never see your passphrase and have no access to your Drive. The encrypted backup contents include any linked contact phone numbers.

Encrypted file export. You can save the same encrypted backup to your device storage and share it through any channel you choose. After it leaves the app, the file is under your control.

Permissions

If you never enable backup and never link a contact, the app makes no network requests and reads nothing outside its own private storage.

Third-party services

When you enable Drive backup, the app authenticates you with Google via the Google Sign-In SDK. Google’s privacy policy applies to that sign-in: https://policies.google.com/privacy. No analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs are included.

Children

The app is for adults running clubs and groups. We do not market it to children and do not knowingly process data from anyone under the age of consent in their jurisdiction.

Retention and deletion

Delete a member, archive a member, or uninstall the app to remove their local data. To delete a Drive backup, sign in to drive.google.com → Settings → Manage apps → Meeting Chips → Delete hidden app data.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal data, and to restrict or object to its processing. Because your data is held only on your own device and your own Drive, you can exercise these rights directly through the app and through Google Drive. For help, email support@fizzcube.co.uk.

Complaints

UK residents can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). EU residents can complain to their national data protection authority. California residents may contact the California Privacy Protection Agency (cppa.ca.gov).

Disclaimer

The app is provided free of charge and “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any data stored using the app will be preserved.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fizzcube Ltd is not liable for any loss of data, loss of profits, loss of goodwill, or any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app — including data loss caused by software bugs, device failure, lost passphrases, or failed backups. You are responsible for keeping your own backups (the encrypted file export feature exists for this purpose) and for remembering your passphrase. Without your passphrase, encrypted backups cannot be recovered, including by us.

Nothing above excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breach of our obligations as a data controller under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including your statutory rights under UK and EU consumer law.

Changes

The “Last updated” date above will change if this policy changes substantively.
